Are overnight cabins private or shared from Paris to Florence?

hi there- i'm trying to book a trainf rom paris to firenze. There are 2nd class and first class cabins available. I'm wondering if any of these options will allow me to book a room where I won't have to share with anyone, even though rooms are 3 bunks. Thanks!

    Hi Chayne,

An overnight connection from Paris to Florence involves taking the Thello Night train from Paris to Milan and switching to a high-speed train the following morning that would take you to Florence.

The Thello Night train carries Single compartments, Double compartments, Triple compartments, 4-berth compartments, and 6-berth compartments.

If the number of people in your party does not equal the capacity of a particular sleeping compartment, then you would end up sharing with other passengers.

If you're traveling on your own, the only way for you to have a private compartment to yourself would be to book the Single compartment.

The Double and Triple compartments are 'gender-specific'. Therefore, if you have a party of 2, with one male and one female, then you would only end up being booked in separate compartments if you choose the option for the Triple. If you book a double, you would not be separated into different compartments, because the compartment would be occupied solely by the two of you.

You would purchase tickets by searching the route under 'Book Train Tickets' on the homepage of our website, www.raileurope.com. For the trip from Paris to Florence, you would break up your search once in Milan. Therefore, you would do one search from Paris to Milan to access the night train and then another search for connecting trains from Milan to Florence the following morning. When entering your search from Paris to Milan, just adjust your preferred departure time to '6PM' to access the night train.

To view the type of compartments offered on an overnight train, you would click ‘Fare details’ after clicking on the fare itself. Currently, due to an error, it may currently be the case that our website is only able to offer a maximum of two or three of these accommodation types. If you're interested in one of the accommodation types that doesn't display, you would have to call us to book. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600. Our current hours are 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM CT Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CT on Saturdays.

Trains from Milan to Florence are either Frecciarossa high-speed trains or Italo high-speed trains.

When you choose your trains into and out of Milan, be sure to account for the stations of arrival and departure. For instance, the night train from Paris to Milan only arrives into the Centrale station in Milan, while trains from Milan to Florence can depart from either the Centrale station, the Porta Garibaldi station, or the Rogoredo station.

Generally, these trains can be booked once within 120 days of an intended departure date. Due to high demand, especially during the summer travel season, space on night trains can sell out very quickly. Therefore, it is recommended that tickets be purchased as soon as possible.
