How can I arrange help for a passenger with limited mobility & in need of wheelchair assistance for train travel in Spain?

we are traveling in Spain by train. Is there special assistance for someone who has limited walking and needs wheelchair assistance for any distance? If so how can I arrange for this? The train stations are Madrid, Granada, Algericas, Cordoba and Seville. Can I get the assistance both with departure and arrival?

  • Hi Marion,

Most trains are wheelchair accessible; however, wheelchair space (and any additional assistance at the stations) is generally only able to be arranged directly with the train operator for a particular service.

As we are the United States-based seller of European tickets for North American countries, we can only book wheelchair space for passengers on the Eurostar (the high-speed train that connects London and either Paris or Brussels) and the Thalys (the high-speed train that connects Paris with certain hubs in the Belgium and the Netherlands or Cologne).

For your travel, you would contact the national rail network of Spain, Renfe. I was able to locate a phone number and email contact that you might be able to try. The phone number is +34 917744040 and the email is oca.accesibilidad@renfe.es.

In the meantime, you can check the pages on our website for the following stations:

    Madrid Puerta de Atocha: http://www.raileurope.com/europe-travel-guide/spain/madrid/train-station/atocha-train-station.html.

    Madrid Chamartin: http://www.raileurope.com/europe-travel-guide/spain/madrid/train-station/madrid-chamartin-train-stat....

    Granada: http://www.raileurope.com/europe-travel-guide/spain/granada/train-station/granada-train-station.html.

    Seville Santa Justa: http://www.raileurope.com/europe-travel-guide/spain/seville/train-station/santa-justa-train-station.....

I'm sorry, however, we don't have similar pages for the other locations.
