    Hi Betty,

The Madrid Barajas Airport does not have a major rail station. There is a local station at the airport, serviced only by local Metro/Cercanias trains that operate between the airport and the city of Madrid.

To commute from the Madrid Barajas Airport into the city of Madrid, you would take Line C-1 of the the local Cercanías train network to the Atocha Cercanías station. Atocha Cercanías is adjacent to the Puerta de Atocha station, where trains to Barcelona depart from. Therefore, you would just walk between the stations. The Cercanías trains from the airport to Atocha Cercanías depart once every 30 minutes throughout the day and take about 26 minutes in duration. You would just pay to board these Cercanías trains locally upon arrival.

You would purchase tickets for your roundtrip between Madrid and Barcelona by clicking on 'Find Fares & Schedules' on the homepage of our website, www.raileurope.com.

The trains between Madrid and Barcelona are high-speed 'AVE' trains. Generally, trains in Spain can only be booked within 60 to 90 days of an intended date of departure. If your intended travel falls outside of this time frame, you would just enter a date within the next 60 or 90 days to get an idea of cost and view schedules when searching the route on our website.

Trains from Madrid arrive into the Sants station in Barcelona, which is the main station. You would get from there to the port by taking line 3 (the green line) of the Metro in the direction of Trinitat Nova to the Drassanes stop. Across the street from the Drassanes station past the giant Columbus statue, there are buses that will take you to the port terminals.
