How can I buy a "flexible" Comfort Class ticket for the TGV? I only see this offered for Economy Class. If I see TGV trains appear for dates outside of 90 days, does that mean I can book them?

I keep reading that TGV tickets in France can only be purchased within 90 days of the travel date, however, when I put in my travel dates for August, it looks like I can purchase the tickets now. Is this correct?

Also, I'm trying to book a Comfort ticket that is "flexible", but that option only pops up when I select Economy. How can I purchase a flexible Comfort class ticket?

Thank you.

  • At this time TGV has opened up sales on their tickets for more than 90 days prior to train departure. This is only for some routes and they are adding more every day. If the schedules pull up and we are able to confirm your train, then you will not have any issues with your tickets.

The Comfort or First class fares on the TGV trains offer different leisure fares. Most fares are 93% refundable upto 2 business days prior to train departure. Some trains will offer a nonrefundable nonchangeable book early fare, but our website will then also offer you a refundable fare for an additional cost.

The leisure fares are also exchangeable once before train departure. This can be done before you depart North America or locally at the station. When you choose a fare, it will list the rules and restrictions for the fare you choose.

I hope this information helps you when booking your fare. Have a great day!

    Thank you for your question.

The most flexible 1st class options for TGV trains generally appear under the 'Premier' heading for prices when you pull up the results of a search for a particular route.

To view a fare's rules and guidelines, you would click the 'View' button that is listed with its cost. After clicking 'View', you would refer to where it says 'Ticket Flexibility' in the box that expands out underneath and click 'Read More' to see the specific rules. Once you click 'Read More' next to the 'Flexible' option, the name of the fare would show as 'TGV:French Day Train Adult Plus'. Under the 'Comfort' heading, you would generally find the 'Semi Flexible' and 'Non Flexible' options for 1st class.

If no fares display under the 'Premier' heading for a particular TGV, you can call us at 1-800-622-8600 to verify their availability.

Generally, trains in France (including the TGVs) can only be booked within 90 days of an intended departure date; however, there have been some instances when they have been able to be booked as far out as 120 days in advance.
