Brig to Bellinzona with a Swiss Pass

I want to take the train from Brig to Bellinzona. I has a Swiss Pass. Your web site only shows trips via Zurich or Milan. I can see from your map that there is a direct route. How do I find the schedule and make a reservation for the direct route (if required)?

    Hi,

There are no direct trains from Brig to Bellinzona. The most direct route from Brig to Bellinzona would involve one train change in Göschenen along the way.

However, these trains do not accept reservations, as would be the case for the vast majority of trains in Switzerland. Therefore, the Swiss Pass is all you would need to board.

The schedules for this specific route from Brig to Bellinzona are not able to be viewed on our website. If you wish to inquire about specific schedules for this route, you would call us at 1-800-622-8600.

I have discovered that several of the routes for which I need a reservation cannot be accessed through your website. I called the 800 number yesterday and was on hold for over an hour -- finally gave up. I am not pleased or impressed.

The Swiss Pass synoptic map clearly shows a route from Brig to Bellinzona via Domodossola, Italy. But this route is not accessible on your web site. Is the map wrong? Can this route be travelled with the Swiss Pass? And if it can be travelled, does it need to be booked by phone?

There are connections from Brig to Bellinzona via Domodossola, but these connections involve 2 train changes along the way; once in Domodossola and then once in Locarno. Just because the map shows a rail line between 2 points does not mean there are direct trains between those 2 points.

Even though a portion of this route does pass through Italy, the Swiss Pass is actually valid to cover this full connection. Since you'll be traveling with a Swiss Pass and the trains comprising of this connection don't accept reservations, there would be nothing you'd have to book (just like the connection involving changing trains only once in Göschenen). The Swiss Pass is all you would need to board these trains.

In regards to the connection from Brig to Bellinzona involving the 2 train changes, you can just view schedules for the first portion from Brig to Domodossola and the final portion of this route from Locarno to Bellinzona by entering the cities under 'Check Fares and Schedules' on the homepage of our website and clicking the option to 'Check Schedules'. The schedules from Domodossola to Locarno are not able to be viewed there.
