    Hi Bonnie,

For the requested itinerary, I would recommend purchasing the 4 country option of the Eurail Select Pass to include Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. Since Germany would not be included, you would also need to purchase a separate ticket to cover you on the train from Salzburg to Munich. Slovakia would be included on the pass, because the direct trains from Budapest to Prague pass through Slovakia en route. There is currently no 5 country option of the Eurail Select Pass.

For the Eurail Select Pass, you would click here: https://www.raileurope.com/rail-tickets-passes/eurail-select-pass/index.html.

    Vienna to Budapest

Direct trains from Vienna to Budapest are Railjet trains or EuroCity (EC) trains. On these trains, reservations are highly recommended as a supplement to a rail pass.

For travel with a rail pass, you would purchase reservations from Vienna to Budapest by clicking the 'Seat Reservations' tab on our homepage (www.raileurope.com), entering the route, and indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. a 'Eurail Four Country Select Pass').

When you pull up the results of your Vienna-Budapest search, our website may show 'Kelenfoe' as the station of arrival in Budapest; however, this is not the main station closest to the city center. The main station in Budapest is the 'Keleti' station. Rest assured, the trains from Vienna do continue on the Keleti station after leaving the Kelenfoe station. You can just remain on your train until it arrives into Keleti. For your reference, the trains from Vienna arrive at the Keleti station just about 16-17 minutes after they are shown to be arriving into the Kelenfoe station.

Generally, trains from Vienna to Budapest can be reserved once within 90 days of an intended departure date.

    Budapest to Prague

Direct trains from Budapest to Prague are EuroCity (EC) trains. On these trains, reservations would also be highly recommended as a supplement to a rail pass.

For travel with a rail pass, you would purchase reservations from Budapest to Prague by clicking the 'Seat Reservations' tab on our homepage, entering the route, and indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. a 'Eurail Four Country Select Pass').

Generally, trains from Budapest to Prague can only be reserved within 90 days of an intended departure date.

    Prague to Salzburg

A connection from Prague to Salzburg takes just under 6 hours in duration and involves changing trains once in Linz along the way. The trains from Linz to Salzburg are Railjet trains.

On trains from Prague to Linz and Linz to Salzburg, reservations are recommended as a supplement to a rail pass. For travel with a rail pass, you would purchase the reservations by clicking the 'Seat Reservations' tab on our homepage, entering the route, and indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. a 'Eurail Four Country Select Pass').

When purchasing reservations for this route, you would just break up your search once in Linz. Therefore, you would do one search for trains from Prague to Linz and another search for connecting trains from Linz to Salzburg.

Generally, trains from Prague to Linz can only be reserved within 60 days of an intended departure date.

    Salzburg to Munich

From Salzburg to Munich, there are Railjet and Meridian trains. Since your Eurail Select Pass would not include Germany, you would purchase a regular ticket for one of these trains. You would purchase tickets by searching the route under 'Find Train Tickets' on our homepage. For this search, since you'll be purchasing a regular ticket and not using your pass for this particular trip, you would click 'No' where it asks 'Are you traveling with a rail pass?'.

Generally, the trains from Salzburg to Munich can be booked once within 90 days of an intended departure date.
