I’m appreciative of help

closest train station to Lisbon Airport

I will be arriving at Lisbon Airport and want to take the train directly to Porto. What is the most efficient way to go? Do I need to go into Lisbon to the train station or is there an easier way.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

    Hi Linda,

Yes, you would have to commute into the city of Lisbon first in order to connect to a train that will take you up to Porto.

There are two main stations in Lisbon, the Oriente station and the Santa Apolonia station, and trains to Porto will actually depart from either of these stations.

By Metro, a connection into the Oriente station from the airport would be easier. You would take the red line of the Metro directly from the airport to the Oriente station, which only takes about 9 to 10 minutes. Otherwise, this station is just a short taxi ride from the airport.

If you were to take the Metro from the airport to the Santa Apolonia station, it would take more like 40 minutes, and you would have to switch from the red line to the blue line at the S. Sebastiao stop. The blue line would then take you directly to the Santa Apolonia station.

You would purchase tickets and check schedules for trains from Lisbon to Porto by clicking on 'Find Fares & Schedules' on the homepage of our website, www.raileurope.com.
