Connect time in Frankfurt from airport to station/missing train

If you have a first class ticket reserved and due to a late flight you miss that train, are you able to get on the next one? We are going FRA to St. Moritz. Is a 2 hour connection from the airport in FRA and the main train station an adequate amount of time to catch the train?

    Hi Candace,

It really depends on your ticket. Trains in Germany (including cross-border trains between a station in Germany and a station in Switzerland) do offer certain fares, labeled on our website as 'Flex Fares', which would be valid to use for a later train on the same day.

When you pull up the results of your schedule searches on our site, you would view the fare type you're being offered by clicking on the fare itself and then 'Fare details'. When you click on 'Fare details', a box will pop up with the name of the fare you're being offered. If the fare is labeled 'Flex Fare', then you know the ticket we issue will be valid for to use to take a later on the same day.

If our website does not offer you a 'Flex Fare' for a particular route, then you would have to call us to purchase the ticket, and we can issue that for you. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600. Our current hours are 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM CT Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CT on Saturdays.

There is a rail station located right at the Frankfurt Airport. You can view schedules and fares for departures right out of the station at the airport by typing 'Frankfurt Airport' in the field for the departure city. When you pull up the results of your search, the station at the airport would be labeled as ‘F-Flughafen Fernbf’.

At the airport itself, the time it takes to get from the gate to the trains can depend on several factors. I would just recommend allowing a time that is comparable to the amount of time it would take for you to walk through a typical major North American airport and retrieve luggage. It is also recommended that you allow an additional hour to get through customs if your flight is arriving from overseas.
