Discovering Portugal - To go with my rail pass, can I purchase reservations in advance?

Hello,My wife and I are traveling through Portugal and need some orientation on how to use the Rail Europe through out our trip. We are flying into Lisbon, where we will need to take a train to Porto to start our journey. We have bought the 5 day flexi pass and have learned that we will need to get our tickets activated in Lisbon on arrival and will need reservations to take the train to Porto. We have tried doing this online but are unable to. We have accomodations set up in Porto, but have read that the train might be booked if we wait to get train reservations until we get to Lisbon. Is this accurate? Is there a way to get reservations before arrival?

    Hi Oscar,

Trains between Lisbon and Porto do require reservations as a supplement to a rail pass. Unfortunately, however, the national rail network of Portugal does not enable their trains to be reserved from anywhere outside the country. The rail network of Portugal only allows their reservations to be sold locally at the CP offices in the stations. To purchase your reservations, you would go to CP office/ticket window in the station and mention that you have the rail pass.
