    Hi Linda,

For the requested itinerary, you would purchase the 3 country option of the Eurail Select Pass for Germany, Austria, and Croatia/Slovenia. Croatia and Slovenia are counted as one country for the purpose of rail passes.

For the Eurail Select Pass, you would click here: https://www.raileurope.com/rail-tickets-passes/eurail-select-pass/index.html.

For travel with a rail pass, you would purchase reservations by clicking the 'Seat Reservations' tab on our homepage (www.raileurope.com), entering a route, and indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. a 'Eurail Three Country Select Pass').

    Munich to Salzburg

From Munich to Salzburg, there are Railjet trains and Meridian trains. These trains follow along the very scenic 'Rosenheim-Salzburg Railway' for a duration of the trip.

On the Railjet trains, reservations would be recommended as a supplement to the rail pass.

The Meridian trains do not accept reservations, so the rail pass would be all that is needed to board.

Generally, the Railjet trains from Munich to Salzburg can be reserved once within 90 days of an intended departure date.

    Salzburg to Vienna

From Salzburg to Vienna, you would take a Railjet train. On these trains, reservations are recommended as a supplement to the rail pass.

Generally, these trains can be reserved once within 90 days of an intended departure date.

    Vienna to Ljubljana

A connection from Vienna to Ljubljana takes just over 6 hours in duration and involves changing trains once in Villach along the way.

Trains from Vienna to Villach are Railjet trains on which reservations are recommended as a supplement to the rail pass. Trains from Vienna to Villach just happen to follow along a famed scenic stretch of railway called the 'Semmering Line'. This stretch of railway starts as you pass through Wiener Neustadt/Gloggnitz and ends around Murzzuschlag/Bruck an der Mur.

On trains from Villach to Ljubljana, reservations are also recommended.

When purchasing reservations for this trip, you would just break up your search once in Villach. Therefore, you would do one search for trains from Vienna to Villach and then another search for connecting trains from Villach to Ljubljana.

Generally, these trains can be reserved once within 90 days of an intended departure date.
