Eurail Global Flexi Pass - when do I need reservations in France?

I have the Eurail Global Pass - Flexi and I am in France. I know I need reservations for the TGV but are there other trains that I need reservations for i.e. Intercities and TER? If not, what do I do...just put the date in my pass and jump on the train? I don't know how to tell where a reservation is required.
Thanks.
Bill

    Hi Bill,

TER trains don’t accept reservations. Since TER trains don't accept resevations, the rail pass is all you would need to board. You would just write in the travel date and hop on.

In France, reservations are only required on TGV trains, some Intercités trains, and any Intercités du Nuit train (the overnight train that operates within France).

If you are already in Europe, you would have to purchase these reservations locally. In Europe, reservations can be purchased right at the stations. Otherwise, you might try a nearby travel agency or possibly a hotel concierge service.

With regard to Intercités trains, you can tell if a reservation will be required by doing a search on our website. To do so, you would enter an Intercités route on our site (www.raileurope.com) and indicate that you'll be traveling with the Eurail Global Pass. When you pull up the results of your search, each departure listed will come attached with a message that says either 'Reservation Required' in a pink box or 'Reservation Recommended' in a yellow/tan box.
