    Hi Julio,

For the Eurail Global Pass, you would click here: https://www.raileurope.com/pass/eurail-global-pass-5880.

For as much travel as you intend to do, 1st class is recommended.

The Eurail Global Pass would cover the ticket costs, so all that would be left would be for you to purchase reservations where required. The objective of a rail pass is to cover the ticket costs on trains. When applicable, reservations are a supplementary cost to a rail pass.

Reservations are required on most high-speed trains, many international routes, and all overnight trains. In Spain, most major cities are connected almost exclusively by AVE high-speed trains. Therefore, it is often the case that reservations would be required when traveling there. Reservations are also required on the Eurostar, which is the train that connects London and Paris.

For travel with a rail pass, you would check reservation costs and purchase reservations by searching a route on our homepage (www.raileurope.com), checking the box that says ‘I have a rail pass’, and then indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. a ‘Eurail Global Pass’).

Generally, reservable trains in Spain can be booked once within 60-90 days of an intended departure date. The Eurostar (London-Paris) is unique in that it can usually be booked 6 to 9 months in advance of a departure.

IC and Alfa Pendular trains in Portugal also will require reservations, but reservations for trains in Portugal can only be purchased when you're there. Reservations for trains in Portugal can only be purchased at the CP offices in the stations. The cost would only be a small amount in addition to your rail pass. When you go to purchase your reservation, just be sure to mention that you already have the Eurail Global Pass.

There are few rail lines between Spain and Portugal. The most common way to travel by rail between these countries is by way of the Lusitania overnight that runs between Madrid and Lisbon. This night train is actually the only train that runs on this route, so there would not be any day trains on this route.

As all night trains do, the Lusitania would also require reservations as a supplement to the rail pass. This night train carries single compartments, double compartments, 4-berth compartments, and 2nd class seats. Currently, however, there is an error preventing actual sleeping compartments on the Lusitania from being booked on our website. Therefore, if you're interested in purchasing reservations on this train, you would have to email us at customercare@raileurope.com. Generally, the Lusitania night train can only be reserved within 60 days of an intended departure date.
