  • Hi,

Yes, any 'Eurail' pass that includes Italy would cover the ticket costs for travel on trains operated by Trenitalia in Italy.

A rail pass covers the ticket costs on trains between different cities in the country or countries included on the pass. When applicable, reservations are a supplementary cost to a rail pass, just as they would be factored into the cost of individual point-to-point tickets (therefore, a rail pass still often works out to be the most economical option for travelers taking multiple trains while in Europe that cover more substantial distances).

In addition to a rail pass, reservations are required on all night trains, many international routes, and most high-speed trains. Generally, high-speed trains connect most of the larger cities and more popular destinations in western Europe.

In Italy, most major cities are connected almost exclusively by high-speed trains. Therefore, it is likely that reservations will be required for many of your trips there.

After you add the pass to your 'Itinerary' (shopping cart), you would click 'Add a Trip' or 'Continue Shopping' where it says 'Want to add more items to your Itinerary?'. This would take you back to the homepage where you would click on 'Book your Rail Pass Reservations' to purchase your reservations.

Generally, reservable trains in Italy can be booked within 90 days of an intended date of departure. If your intended travel falls outside of this time frame, you would just enter a date within the next 90 days to get an idea of the reservation cost and view schedules when searching a route on our website.

  • I’m frustrated and getting angry
I've bought my group ticket, made and paid for seat reservations for all connections, but received only those tickets (with seats) that are outside Italy. The tickets for all of the connections that are exclusively inside Italy (so I suppose are on Trenitalia) are not included int he packet I received, so not only do I not have my tickets, I have no indication that i paid for reserved seats. What do I do now?
