I’m Confused

Eurail Pass reservations and Swiss trains

I have two questions: I plan to buy a Eurail Global Pass and looked on the Eurail website for the trip from Zurich to Innsbruck and they say the reservation is recommended but on your site it says they are required?
Second question: Will I get any discounts with my Eurail Pass on the Cable cars of Schilthorn or the train to Jungfrau? Any suggestions?

    Hi Claire,

Reservations are highly recommended on trains from Zurich to Innsbruck but not necessarily required. I apologize for any confusion. Generally, you can purchase reservations for this route on our website under 'Book your Rail Pass Reservations'; however, there is currently an error on our website preventing this route from being booked there. You would call us at 1-800-622-8600 if you would like to book reservations for this train and no reservation costs display when you do your search. Trains from Zurich to Innsbruck can be booked within 90 days of an intended date of departure.

For your Mt. Schilthorn trip, you would purchase the 'Schilthorn/Piz Gloria' mountaintop excursion. A Eurail Global Pass would cover as far as Mürren. Therefore, to be covered from Mürren to Schilthorn, you would purchase the 'Mürren-Schilthorn/Eurail Pass' option of the 'Schilthorn/Piz Gloria' pass. To purchase this pass, you would click on the following link: http://www.raileurope.com/activities/schilthorn-piz-gloria/index.html .

For your trek up Jungfraujoch, you would purchase the 'Jungfraujoch Top of Europe' mountaintop excursion. This would cover you for travel via a cogwheel railway up to Kleine Scheidegg and then the famous Jungfrau railway through the Eiger Tunnel up to the peak of Jungfraujoch. You can purchase this pass by clicking here: http://www.raileurope.com/activities/jungfraujoch/index.html .

Since you would be traveling with a Eurail Global Pass, you would purchase the 'Interlaken-Jungfraujoch/Eurail Pass' option of this pass.

Reservations are not accepted for any part of the Jungfraujoch trip. The 'Jungfraujoch Top of Europe' pass is an open voucher that you would use to hop on any of the trains up to Jungfraujoch and back. The roundtrip would just have to be completed within a 24 time period once you begin the journey. Rest assured, you will have no difficulty getting on any of the trains.
