    Hello,

The rail pass that includes Italy would be valid on many lines that are now operated by TreNord but not all. If the TreNord rail lines were formerly operated by Trenitalia (the national rail network of Italy), then a rail pass that includes Italy would cover those lines.

However, those TreNord rail lines that were not formerly operated by Trenitalia would not be covered with a rail pass. Edolo is a city accessed exclusively by such a rail line from Brescia, so a rail pass would not be valid to there.

There are some TreNord lines to Como that are also not covered with a rail pass, however, there are many other trains to Como that a rail pass would be valid on. In fact, a rail pass would be valid on most trains to Como from other cities. The same would apply to get to Varese, where there are TreNord lines a rail pass would not be valid on but also trains operated by Trenitalia that a rail pass would be valid on.

A rail pass would not be valid on the TreNord lines between Milan and the Malpensa Airport, though there are now a couple trains per day between Milan and Malpensa that are operated by Trenitalia and a rail pass would be valid on.

This being said, many of the TreNord lines around the suburbs of Milan are covered by a rail pass. The line between Milan and Varenna is an example of one that would be covered with a rail pass.

Sorry that it isn't more clear, and there isn't an easier way to tell. Generally, a rail pass would cover the ticket costs between different cities in the country or countries included on the pass. This is a rare exception.
