"Fare Requested not available" with my BritRail SouthWest Pass - HELP!!

We are trying to make seat reservations for our trip in August. We bought a Britrail South West England rail pass. Everytime we try to book a route we get this message "The fares you requested are not available with the selected rail pass. Please select a regular fare and proceed to the next step." I have put in every route we had planned to take in the south and continue to get this message. It will cost us a fortune if we have to pay regular fare and then what's the point of the pass?! I am really hoping I'm doing something wrong - please HELP! Thank you.

    Hi Gaynor,

You can actually just disregard that error message. Rest assured, your rail pass is valid. The issue is actually that the trains you're requesting either do not accept reservations or that the reservations can only be purchased locally. However, that error message is completely misplaced there and fails to communicate that. We are very sorry for the confusion.

For trains in the UK, passholder reservations are only able to be purchased locally and are only recommended on trains that take over 2 hours. Direct trains between London and Cornwall take 3 to 5 hours, so reservations are recommended on these. You can purchase the reservations by going to the ticket window in the station and mentioning that you have the BritRail SouthWest Pass.

In the meantime, you can still use the route search feature under 'Book Train Tickets' on our homepage (www.raileurope.com) just to view schedules.

Thank you Jeff! I also just got off the phone with customer service and they said the same thing. We are very relieved.
