With a 4 country Eurail Select Pass, can I cross the same countries twice? Munich-Prague, Prague-Vienna, Vienna-Budapest, Budapest-Salzburg, and Salzburg-Frankfurt

Hi!We plan on traveling from Munich > Prague > Vienna > Budapest > Salzburg > Frankfurt. Would the four country pass still work? We're traveling through 4 countries, but would be crossing Germany and Austria twice. Thanks!

    Hi Hung,

For the requested itinerary, you would purchase the 4 country option of the Eurail Select Pass to include Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary. For the Eurail Select Pass, you would click here: https://www.raileurope.com/rail-tickets-passes/eurail-select-pass/index.html.

Rest assured, it doesn't matter if you pass through the same country multiple times.
The countries included on a multiple country rail pass can just be thought of as one geographical area. You can travel within this geographical area just like it's all one larger country.

The rail pass covers ticket costs. When applicable, reservations are a supplementary cost to a rail pass.

For travel with a rail pass, you would purchase reservations by clicking the 'Seat Reservations' tab on our homepage (www.raileurope.com), entering a route, and indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. a 'Eurail Four Country Select Pass').

    Munich to Prague

From Munich to Prague, you can either take an ALX (ALEX) train that takes approximately 6 hours in duration or an IC Bus that only takes about 4.5 hours in duration. The pass would be valid on either option.

On the ALX trains, reservations are recommended as a supplement to the rail pass. On the IC Bus, reservations would be required as a supplement to the rail pass.

Reservations for the trains from Munich to Prague are able to be purchased through our website. However, reservations for the IC Bus are only able to be purchased by calling us. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600. Our current hours are 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM CT Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CT on Saturdays.

Generally, the ALX trains and the IC Bus from Munich to Prague can be reserved within 180 days of an intended departure date.

    Prague to Vienna

From Prague to Vienna, you would take a Railjet train. On these trains, reservations are highly recommended as a supplement to a rail pass. Generally, the Railjets from Prague to Vienna can only be reserved within 60 days of an intended departure date.

    Vienna to Budapest

From Vienna to Budapest, there are Railjet trains and EC (EuroCity) trains. On these trains, reservations are highly recommended as a supplement to a rail pass. Generally, the trains from Vienna to Budapest can be reserved once within 90 days of an intended departure date.

    Budapest to Salzburg

From Budapest to Salzburg, you would take a Railjet train on which reservations would once again be highly recommended as a supplement to the rail pass. Generally, these trains can be reserved once within 90 days of an intended departure date.

    Salzburg to Frankfurt

From Salzburg to Frankfurt, you would take an EC (EuroCity) train on which reservations are highly recommended as a supplement to the rail pass. Generally, these trains can be reserved within 180 days of an intended departure date.
