France-Switzerland Pass for travel to Geneva, Lyon, Interlaken, Jungfraujoch, & Annecy.

Will the France/Switzerland Rail Pass allow me to take day trips from Lyon? Is there a extra fee for the Interlaken/Jungfraujoch rail ride? Or is there a better option for day trip train rides with Lyon, France as a base. My trip is tentatively planned to arrive in Geneva by plane, train to Interlaken, train to Bern, train to Anncey and then to Lyon and back to Geneva.

Thank you very much for any advice,

  • Yes, the Eurail France-Switzerland Pass does cover the ticket costs for rail travel on trains to Lyon from elsewhere in France or Switzerland. In fact, trains from Geneva to Interlaken or Bern, trains comprising of a connection from Bern to Annecy, and trains from Annecy to Lyon do not even accept reservations, so the railpass is all you would need to board.

In regards to your trip to Jungfraujoch, the Eurail France-Switzerland Pass would cover you as far as Interlaken. Therefore, to be covered from Interlaken to Jungfraujoch, you would purchase the 'Interlaken-Jungfraujoch/Eurail Pass' option of the 'Jungfraujoch Top of Europe' pass.
