    Hi Lorraine,

The most feasible connection from Aix en Provence to Granada would take at least 22 hours in duration and would involve 4 changes along the way; once in Marseille, once in Montpellier, once in Port Bou, and then once in Barcelona; with the portion of the route from Barcelona to Granada being on an overnight train.

However, the portions of this route from Montpellier to Port Bou and Port Bou to Barcelona are regional trains, for which tickets are only able to be purchased locally. The operators of these trains have not enabled these trains to be booked from anywhere outside of Europe.

Therefore, you would only be able to purchase tickets in advance for the segments from Aix en Provence to Marseille, Marseille to Montpellier and the night train from Barcelona to Granada. You can purchase these tickets under 'Check Fares and Schedules' on the homepage of the Rail Europe website, www.raileurope.com.

Due to our link with the national rail network of Spain, our website requires that you enter the station name when you do searches for routes in Spain. To view schedules for the part of the route from Barcelona to Granada, you would type 'Barcelona Sants' and 'Granada' when you do your search.

The trains from Aix en Provence to Marseille and from Marseille to Montpellier are able to be booked within 90 days of an intended date of departure, while the night train from Barcelona to Granada is only able to be booked within 60 days of a departure. Night trains can sell out quickly, especially during the busy Spring and Summer travel season, so we would recommend booking your tickets as soon as possible.

If you wish to inquire about the schedules for the middle portion of the connection between Montpellier and Barcelona that isn't able to be booked in advance, you would call us at 1-800-622-8600.
