Galicia Planning - Santiago de Compostela to Vigo & Vigo to Madrid

Hello, I'm trying to plan a trip in Galicia in August 2018. I can't find if it will be possible to take the train from Compostela to Vigo, and then later from Vigo to Madrid. When would I be able to book? And how can I confirm train times and prices? Can you please help? Thanks!

    Hi Sheila,

You would purchase tickets by searching a route under 'Find Train Tickets' on the Rail Europe homepage,

When searching schedules on our site, you would need to type Santiago de Compostela as 'Santiago de Composte', and you would need to type Vigo as 'Vigo Guixar'.

Therefore, you would do one search from 'Santiago de Composte' to 'Vigo Guixar' and another search from 'Vigo Guixar' to 'Madrid'.

The trains from Santiago to Vigo are regional trains.

From Vigo to Madrid, there are Alvia trains during the day and an overnight train.

Generally, trains in Spain can only be booked within 60-90 days of an intended departure date. Since your intended travel falls outside of this time frame, you would just enter an earlier date (a date within the next 90 days) to get an idea of ticket costs and schedules in the meantime.
