German Pass cover ticket from Fussen to Paris?

We are visiting Munich, Fussen and Paris next month and are trying to decide which rail passes to buy. If I purchase the German Rail Pass, would it include the DB train ride from Fussen to Paris?

    Hi Maria,

There are no direct trains from Füssen to Paris. A connection from Füssen to Paris would take 7 to 8 hours in duration and involves 2 train changes along the way; once in Augsburg and then once in either Mannheim or Stuttgart.

    Füssen to Augsburg

Trains from Füssen to Augsburg are regional trains on which reservations are not accepted. Therefore, the German Rail Pass is all you would need to board.

For planning purposes, you can view schedules for any non-reservable trains by doing a search under 'Find Train Tickets' on our homepage, www.raileurope.com. Generally, when just searching for schedules for non-reservable trains, you would have to be sure the 'No' option is checked where it asks you 'Are you traveling with a rail pass?'.

Augsburg to Mannheim or Augsburg to Stuttgart

Trains from Augsburg to Mannheim and Augsburg to Stuttgart are ICE (InterCity Express) and IC (InterCity) trains on which reservations are recommended as a supplement to the German Rail Pass.

For travel with a rail pass, you would purchase reservations for a train from Augsburg to Mannheim or Augsburg to Stuttgart by clicking the 'Seat Reservations' tab on our homepage, entering the route, and indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. a 'German Rail Pass').

Mannheim to Paris or Stuttgart to Paris

Trains from Mannheim to Paris and Stuttgart to Paris are TGV Est (France-Germany High Speed) trains. With a German Rail Pass, you would be eligible to receive a discounted rate called the 'Passholder 3' (even though the trains cross over into France).

To purchase tickets at the 'Passholder 3' rate on a TGV Est train from Mannheim to Paris or Stuttgart to Paris, you would follow the same procedure for booking reservations on a train from Augsburg to Mannheim or Augsburg to Stuttgart.

On these TGV Est trains, you can ensure that our website is quoting you the 'Passholder 3' rate by clicking the 'View' button under the cost for a particular fare. After you click 'View', a box will expand out underneath. In this box, you would refer to the option(s) listed under where it says 'Ticket Flexibility' and click 'Read More'. When you click 'Read More', the name of the 'Passholder 3' fare would display as 'France-Germany High Speed Passholder 3'.
