Montreux to Interlaken on the GoldenPass, Jungfraujoch, and Interlaken to Zurich Airport. Are the Eurail Passes the same as the Swiss Travel Pass?

We have have a few questions, as listed below:1. We have purchased 10-day Flex passes, for Italy and Switzerland, for two adults along with the family card for my two kids, from your website. Are these passes the same as EuRail.com passes?2. Also, are the above mentioned passes the same as Swiss Travel Pass Flex? We are looking at other websites, to include, SwissPasses.com, where we have tickets that matches our interests, however, at those sites, we do not see an option for the two-country rail passes listed as an option. Instead, they show Swiss Travel Pass Flex as an option. Are these two passes (two country versus STP Flex) the same?3. Since we have the two country flex pass purchased from your site, do we still need to purchase tickets and seat reservations for Golden Pass covering Montreux to Interlaken on August 7th Monday?4. Where do we purchase passes for Jungfraujoch? I do not see it listed on your RailEurope.com site.5. While doing the research on your website, I see that there is a charge to go from Interlaken to Zurich Airport (August 10th Thursday). Does the two country passes not include such travel from Interlaken to Zurich Airport for free? I see various options ranging from $24 to $36.6. Which site do we go to in order to plan our local travel, say Interlaken to Wengen or other local trips?Let me know your responses soon. Thanks for your assistance in advance!Regards,Janak

    Hi Janak,

I'm sorry, as we are not able to account for what is offered on other websites. With that said, all of the dual country rail passes we offer are ‘Eurail’. Rail Europe is a seller of European tickets and rail passes to residents of countries outside of Europe. The term 'Eurail' just refers to a brand of rail passes, which we are able to sell.

The Swiss Travel Pass is not a ‘Eurail Pass’. While Eurail does have single country passes for other countries, they are not able to offer a single country rail pass just for Switzerland.

As it happens, we at Rail Europe are able to sell the various Eurail Passes and the Swiss Travel Pass, as well as other passes.

All trains between Interlaken and the station at Zurich Airport would be covered by any rail pass that includes Switzerland, be it a multiple country Eurail Select Pass or the single country Swiss Travel Pass.

From Interlaken to the Zurich Airport, the shortest connections take just over 2 hours in duration and involve changing trains once in Bern along the way.

Reservations are actually not necessary on either of these trains, so the Eurail Select Pass is all you would need to board. For planning, you can view schedules on our website for this route by doing a separate search for each segment. Also, for trains into the station at the airport, you would just have to be sure to type 'Zurich Airport' in the field for the arrival city. Therefore, you would do one search for trains from Interlaken to Bern and another search for connecting trains from Bern to Zurich Airport.

If you don't mind adding about an hour to your journey time, you can take a different route that involves taking the remaining the segment of the GoldenPass route. This option would take just over 3 hours in duration and involves changing trains once in Lucerne along the way, instead of Bern. The segment from Interlaken to Lucerne represents the final segment of the GoldenPass route.

On the GoldenPass segment from Interlaken to Lucerne, reservations are possible but not necessary. Trains from Lucerne to Zurich Airport do not even accept reservations, so the Eurail Select Pass is all you would need to board.

For the options via the GoldenPass/Lucerne, you can view schedules on our website just by breaking up your search in Lucerne. Therefore, you would just do one search for trains from Interlaken to Lucerne and another search for connecting trains from Lucerne to Zurich Airport.

All trains from Interlaken to Lucerne have panoramic windows for looking out at the scenery.

Schedules for some of the short trains beyond Interlaken may not be able to be viewed on our website. As we are not able to able to provide or verify specific schedules over this forum, you would have to call us if you’d like to inquire about schedules for any such train.

A connection from Interlaken to Wengen involves changing trains once in Lauterbrunnen along the way. Trains from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen depart twice every hour throughout the day, and the ride only takes 20 minutes. Trains from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen also depart twice every hour throughout the day. The ride from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen only takes 14 minutes.
