How to book Golden Pass seat reservation from Zweisimmen and Montreux.

Hi We are a family of 8, wanted to travel on Golden Pass scenic train. We have Swiss Travel Pass 1st class, but i was suggested to reserve tickets in train between Zweisimmen and Montreux. What are the charges & how do I reserve the seats? Are the full trains first class or second class or mix of both seat types?

    Hi Kavita,

It is true that reservations are highly recommended on the GoldenPass segment from Zweisimmen to Montreux.

For travel with a rail pass, you would check reservation costs and purchase reservations from Zweisimmen to Montreux by clicking the 'Seat Reservations' tab on our homepage (www.raileurope.com), entering the route, and indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. a 'Swiss Travel Pass').

The trains from Zweisimmen to Montreux do offer both 1st and 2nd class. When you pull up the results of a search for these trains on our website, 1st class will be found under the 'Comfort' heading for fares and 2nd class will be found under the 'Economy' heading for fares.

Generally, the GoldenPass can be reserved once within 90 days of an intended departure date.

On the other segments of the GoldenPass scenic route (Lucerne-Interlaken and Interlaken-Zweisimmen), reservations are not necessary. Therefore, the Swiss Travel Pass would be all you'd need to board.
    • On the segment from Zweisimmen to Montreux, travelers have the option of either ‘Classic’ GoldenPass trains or ‘Panorama’ GoldenPass trains. These options are labeled accordingly when the results of a schedule search display. Carriages on the 'Classic' trains have a vintage turn-of-the-century Belle Époque look, whereas the 'Panorama' train carriages have a more modern look. 'Classic' GoldenPass trains also have 'wine cellar coaches', which offer a wider selection of wine than would be offered in the bar cars on the 'Panorama' trains; however, food is available for purchase on both the 'Classic' and 'Panorama' trains. The Classic trains do have large windows, but the windows on the Panorama trains are larger and more “panoramic”.

  • Thank you for the revert. Do you think the golden pass from lucerne to montreaux followed by montreaux to gruyere and broc to visit cheese & choc factory on our own, return back to our place of stay in lucerne can be done in one day ?
