Goldenpass Montreux to Bern Switzerland unable to find reservations compatible with pass

I am trying to book the Golden pass from Montreux, Switzerland to Spiez via Zweisimmen to Bern. When I pick the multi destination, Montreux to Zweisimmen says no reservation required, but from Zweisimmen to Bern it says: While reservations are possible on this train, at this time we are unable to find reservations that are compatible with your rail pass. You may inquire at the train station to check if reservations are available. Otherwise, you can hop on this train with your rail pass at no extra charge.

Do I need reservations for each leg of this journey? If so, how do I book them.

    Hi Vickie,

For what you're trying to do, you would piece together a connection by doing a separate search for each segment. In any case, the multi-city' option doesn't work, so I would not advise using it. Additionally, you would only want to purchase reservations for one of the segments that comprise of your trip.

There are direct regional trains from Zweisimmen up to Bern, but do you want to take the GoldenPass to Spiez before connecting up to Bern?

If you'll be traveling with a rail pass, it would only be recommended that reservations be purchased for the GoldenPass segment from Montreux to Zweisimmen.

For travel with a rail pass, you would purchase reservations for a train from Montreux to Zweisimmen by clicking the 'Seat Reservations' tab on our homepage (www.raileurope.com), inputting the cities, and indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling.

On the segment from Montreux to Zweisimmen, there are either ‘Classic’ GoldenPass trains or ‘Panorama’ GoldenPass trains for you to choose from. These will be labeled accordingly when you pull up the results of this search. Coaches on the 'Classic' trains have a vintage turn-of-the-century Belle Époque look, whereas the 'Panorama' trains have a more modern look. 'Classic' GoldenPass trains also have 'wine cellar' coaches, which offer a wider selection of wine than would be offered in the bar cars on the 'Panorama' trains; however, food is available for purchase on both the 'Classic' and 'Panorama' trains. The Classic trains have large windows, but the windows on the Panorama trains are more “panoramic”, as the name suggests.

On the GoldenPass segment from Zweisimmen to Spiez, reservations are possible but not necessary. Reservations are also not necessary on trains from Spiez to Bern. Therefore, you can rest assured that a rail pass would be all you'd need to board these trains.

In any case, for planning purposes, you can still view schedules by doing separate searches for these segments on our site. Therefore, you would do one search for trains from Zweisimmen to Spiez and another search for connecting trains from Spiez to Bern.

Direct trains from Zweisimmen to Bern also don't need reservations. Therefore, a rail pass would be all you'd need to board one of these, as well.
