Heathrow airport to Birmingham with the BritRail England Pass?

I'm arriving to Heathrow airport but I'm staying at Birmingham. So if I have the BritRail England Pass, can I go from Heathrow to Birmingham with the same pass? Or do I need to buy an extra Heathrow-Birmingham. Also do I have to go to London first then Birmingham? Thank you.

    Hi Carmen,

A rail connection from the Heathrow Airport to Birmingham does involve going into the city of London first before continuing on up to Birmingham.

A rail pass covers the ticket costs for travel between different cities in the country or countries included on the pass. Therefore, the BritRail England Pass would cover you to travel between London and Birmingham. The BritRail England Pass does also happen to cover the airport transfer on the Heathrow Express into the city of London.

The Heathrow Express departs once every 15 minutes, and the ride only takes about 15-20 minutes. The Heathrow Express arrives into the Paddington station in London, and the fastest trains to Birmingham depart from the Euston station in London. To commute from Paddington to Euston, you would take the Circle Line of the Tube to the Euston Square stop, which would take about 13 minutes in duration. You would then walk from Euston Square to the Euston station, which would take 5 to 10 minutes. You would pay to board the Tube locally at the turnstiles upon arrival.

Reservations are not at all necessary on the trains between London and Birmingham, so the BritRail England Pass is all you would need to board. For your reference, you can just check schedules for trains from London to Birmingham by clicking on 'Find Fares & Schedules' on our homepage and entering the route. The trains from the London Euston station to Birmingham are high-speed Virgin Trains.

  • Just looking for an update as this message is from three years ago. Is this still the path to Birmingham from heathrow? Would there be a way to get directly to Daventry or is Birmingham the best approach?
