HELP! Need reimbursement for two unused tickets due to strike last Wednesday, 4/17/2019

We had pre=purchased train tickets through Renfe/Rail Europe North America online for two tickets from Seville to Madrid for Wednesday, 4.17.2019 (last Wednesday). That morning, there was a strike. Our train was simply cancelled. We had to quickly buy two additional tickets. This was NOT in our budget. Therefore, I would like to be reimbursed for the two tickets we did NOT use last Wednesday. No one is answering the phone when we call. We really are counting on being reimbursed. Next step?
