    Hi Deb,

The bus segment of the Bernina Express, which is between Lugano and Tirano, only runs between April 2nd and October 28th. Therefore, you can just take a direct regional train from Milan to Tirano to connect up with the Bernina Express train. The train segment of the Bernina Express (Tirano-St Moritz) is year-round.

You would purchase tickets by searching a route under 'BOOK TRAIN TICKETS' on the homepage of our website, www.raileurope.com. For a one-way trip from Milan to St Moritz, you would just break up your search once in Tirano. Therefore, you would do one search from Milan to Tirano and then another search for connecting trains from Tirano to St Moritz. For a return, you would just do the same thing in the reverse, so you would do one search from St Moritz to Tirano and then another search for connecting trains from Tirano to Milan.

For the most comfortable experience, we recommend booking 1st class.

The Milan-Tirano trains run along the eastern coast of Lake Como for part of the journey and are also very scenic.
