How do we add a Swiss Family Card to Swiss Pass?

How do we add a Swiss Family card for a child on raileurope website? I am only able to add the Swiss pass and somehow I am unable to figure out how to add the Family card (which comes for free) to my shopping cart. Thanks.

  • You would be issued a Swiss Family Card just by entering that there is a child traveling from the drop-down menu under where it says 'Children (under 15)'. Once you indicate the number of passengers traveling and that there is a child, a question would appear that says 'Special prices are offered for 2 or more travelers. Is everyone in your party traveling together at all times?'. If you click 'Yes', then the option for the Swiss Family Card would appear right below it with the question 'Are all of the children in your party always traveling with at least one of their parents or legal guardians?'. Just make sure the box is checked next to this question, and you would be issued a Swiss Family Card with your purchase.

I would just like to note that children under the age of 16 (15 and under) are eligible to travel for free in Switzerland with the Swiss Family Card. It is incorrectly indicated on the page for the Swiss Pass on our website that only children under the age of 15 can receive the Swiss Family Card. When you go to purchase the pass and get a price for it, it would say 'Children (Under 15)' where it asks you to enter the number of children traveling. Please disregard this, as it should say 'Children (Under 16)'. I have reported this error and we hope to have it fixed as soon as possible.

  • Ok I know, however I would still like to see in the shopping cart. Otherwise the cart just says 2 Adults (nothing about kids), and later it would be difficult to show that I indeed selected the option

Can you please do the update. Than you

      Hi,

I'm sorry, however, the Swiss Family Cards do not display in shopping carts, because these are just free slips that we include in your order when you indicate that there will be children traveling with you. Additionally, the Swiss Family Cards are widely available to be picked up at any rail station in Switzerland.

      Hi Zahida,

I'm not sure I understand your first question. The Glacier Express departs right from the rail station in Chur.

You would be able to return to Zurich from Zermatt after arriving into Zermatt on the Glacier Express. You can check schedules under 'Check Fares and Schedules' or 'Find Fares & Schedules' on the homepage of our Canadian website, www.raileurope.ca.

The Nestle factory is located in Broc. A rail connection from Zurich to Broc would involve changing trains twice along the way; once in Montbovon and then once in Bulle. However, schedules for this route are not able to be viewed on our website. If you'd like to inquire about schedules for this route, you would call us at 1-800-622-8600.

You can check schedules for other trains out of Zurich under 'Check Fares and Schedules' or 'Find Fares & Schedules' on our homepage.

Rest assured, you will receive your orders in time for your departure to Europe. Any order placed on our website takes 24 to 48 business hours to be processed in addition to the time it takes to ship the documents, which would be 1 to 2 business days to an address in Canada.

If you would like to check on the status of your orders, you would call us.
