I am 74 and wish to travel from Graz to Sofia by train on 14 June returning 28 June. What is cheapest way of doing this?

I do not want to stop off anywhere on route and am happy to take a night train where required

    Hi Lee,

I'm sorry, however, there are no direct trains between Graz and Sofia.

    Graz to Sofia

For a trip from Graz to Sofia on June 14th, the most feasible connection takes about 27 hours in duration and involves 3 train changes along the way; once in Vienna, once in Budapest (at the Ferencváros station), and then once in Belgrade. The segment from Budapest to Belgrade would be on an actual overnight train. For the connection to be possible, you would just have to be sure to make your train change in Budapest at the Ferencváros station, which is more of a secondary station.

Of the trains comprising of this connection, only trains from Graz to Vienna (Railjet trains) and Vienna to Budapest can be booked on our website.

Tickets for the night train from Budapest Ferencváros to Belgrade and trains from Belgrade to Sofia can only be booked by calling us. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600. Our current hours are 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM CT Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CT on Saturdays.

    Sofia to Graz

For a return on the 28th of June, the most feasible connection takes just over 26.5 hours in duration and involves 2 train changes along the way; once in Belgrade and then once in Sevnica (Slovenia). The segment from Belgrade to Sevnica would be on an overnight train.

Currently, we are not able to issue tickets from Sofia to Belgrade. Tickets from Sofia to Belgrade are only able to be purchased locally when you're in Europe.

Tickets for the night train from Belgrade to Sevnica and trains from Sevnica to Graz are not able to be booked on our website. Instead, you would call us to purchase tickets for these trains.
