Would a transfer time of 10 minutes be enough at the station in Strasbourg? 7 minutes at the station in Basel?

Hello I am an international traveler and only speak English and will be travelling with a large suitcase. Would a Transfer time of 10 minutes in Strasbourg and a transfer time of 7 minutes in Basel(from platform 31 to 12) be enough to ask for help if needed to find the platform? Or will that be cutting too close? Also what happens if I miss the train? Can I take the next train(there is one after an hour) Itinerary is below=====================================Paris Est dep 13:53 TGV 9575 TGV Direction: Stuttgart Hbf Strasbourg arr 15:41 Transfer time 10 min. Hi Sunil,

A connection time of 10 minutes would be sufficient at the station in Strasbourg (Gare de Strasbourg), but I'd say a connection time of 7 minutes would be cutting it too close at the station in Basel (Basel SBB).

If you ever wish to arrange for a transfer time of your choosing, you would just do a separate search each segment of a connection.

However, tickets for the 'TER' trains from Strasbourg to Basel and also for trains from Basel to Lucerne can be used for any train later in the day, should you miss the specific trains you choose when you go to book your tickets on our website.

If your intention is just to travel straight from Paris to Lucerne, then you can always just take a direct 'TGV Lyria' high-speed train from Paris to Basel or Paris to Lausanne, and then just take a direct train from either of those cities to Lucerne.

Tickets for trains from Basel to Lucerne or Lausanne to Lucerne can be used for any train later in the day, should you miss the specific trains you choose when you go to book your tickets on our website.

  • Thanks Jeff for the response. I went ahead and booked the ticket. I will have a map of Basel station with me and use that to head directly to the other platform. There is another train in 1 hour if I miss it and its good to know that the tickets are valid for any of the later train that day.

    Thanks,
    Sunil

  • Update: I finished this trip. The transfer in Strousburg was easy and stress free. I forgot the platform number in Basel and thought of using the TV screens to figure out. This was a big mistake. Basel is a very big train station and changing platforms meant a very long walk with big luggage and lots of people. I managed to board the train with seconds to spare. Very stressful but happy to have made it. Just remember your platform number and be prepared to run :)
