Is it known when the trenhotel service between Barcelona and Granada will resume?

My parents are trying to travel in early June 2016; however, from the information I have read on this website it appears that the track is is being worked on. Can someone please update the current status of the track works, and whether or not the service is likely to resume so that I can organise other transport. Thanks :)

    Hi Craig,

The overnight train from Barcelona to Granada is still not operating. Many night trains across Europe are being discontinued. With the exception of a few, it seems like we're heading to a time when night trains will be a thing of the past. With that said, there is construction on the rail line just outside Granada that is affecting both day service and the Barcelona-Granada night train. It probably won't be until the construction is complete that we'll have a better idea about the permanent fate of the night train. I just don't expect that to happen before your trip comes in June. As it is, that construction has been going on for over a year now.

Most likely, you'll end up having to take a day connection for travel between Barcelona and Granada. While the construction is going on, the day connections would just involve a bus replacement for the segment between Antequera and Granada. You can purchase a ticket to cover the entire route from Barcelona to Granada (including the bus), by calling us. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600. Our current hours are 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM CT Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CT on Saturdays. Trains in Spain can be booked once within 60 to 90 days of an intended date of departure.
