Is it worth upgrading to a flexible fare. We are arriving by air and concerned that we could be delayed and possibly miss our train.

We are traveling from Rome FCO airport to Naples Central Station in June.

    Hi Marie,

Generally, you would view the exchange policy for a particular fare by clicking on the 'Fare details' link after selecting the fare itself. However, it appears that the exchange policies for most Italian trains are not displaying at this time, due to an error. On Italian 'Le Frecce' trains (Frecciarossa, Frecciargento and Frecciabianca) and IC trains, the most flexible fares are able to be exchanged locally, but only if the exchange is done prior to the train's scheduled departure, which would not do you any good in the case of a flight delay.

Otherwise, you could purchase the lower fare and add the 'Rail Protection Plan'. The Rail Protection Plan would enable you to be reimbursed in the case of a flight delay. For the details of the Rail Protection Plan, you would click here: https://www.raileurope.com/about-rail-europe/article/rail-protection-plan-6937.

The first part of the connection would involve taking a regional or 'Leonardo Express' train from the Rome FCO Airport into the city of Rome.

Tickets for the regional trains are able to be used for other departures within 4 hours after the specific departure time you selected on our website (regardless of whether or not you have the Rail Protection Plan).

Tickets for the Leonardo Express trains are only able to be used for other departures within 1.5 hours after the specific departure time you selected on our website (regardless of whether or not you have the Rail Protection Plan).

The regional trains are labeled 'Regionale' on our website for trains between the Rome Airport and the city of Rome, while the Leonardo Express trains are labeled 'Regionale Veloce' on our website for trains between Rome Airport and the city of Rome.
