For 3 youths & 2 adults, would my Global Pass be considered first class or second class?

I'm thinking about buying the flexi pass for traveling 15 days during a 2 month period. Is that considered a "global pass" then? 3 of the 5 travelers are youth and I see there is a discount for youth. If we purchase the 15 day in 2 month pass using the youth rate.. does that make the entire pass for the 5 of us a 2nd class pass or could it be a 1st class pass because of the adults included? Or if we want a 1st class pass, should we purchase all as adults?

    Hi Todd,

What defines the 'Global' Eurail Pass is the countries it includes. The Eurail Global Pass is the pass that covers travel in 28 different European countries. It is the only pass that covers travel in that many countries. The countries included are Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Turkey. Also included are Liechtenstein and Monaco, which are considered part of Austria and France respectively (for the purpose of rail passes).

For the Eurail Global Pass, you would click here: https://www.raileurope.com/rail-tickets-passes/eurail-global-pass/index.html.

There is an option for 15 days of travel within a time frame of 2 months.

With the Eurail Global Pass, 2nd class is only offered to youth passengers under the age of 26 (25 and younger). Therefore, if you all wish to be seated together, the youths would have to purchase their passes at the adult rate in 1st class or another discounted rate called the 'Saver' rate, which is also only offered in 1st class. To be eligible to receive the Saver rate, there would just have to be 2 or more passengers traveling together at all times.

To purchase your Eurail Global Pass at the Saver rate. you would first refer to the page for the Eurail Global Pass on our website and refer to where it says 'Who is traveling?'. Under 'Who is traveling?', you would then need to indicate the number of passengers in your party by clicking 'Add Another Traveler' until you've accounted for everyone. Even if you identify 3 of you as 'Youth' travelers, you would still end up being quoted the 1st class adult rate, simply because there would also be 2 adult passengers in your same party.

After you indicate that there will be multiple passengers in your party, text will appear that asks you, "Special prices may be offered for 2 or more travelers. Is everyone in your party traveling together at all times?". For the Saver rate to be offered, you would just have to click the option for 'Yes'.

When you enter the criteria for your request, it would look like this:

      Todd,

I apologize, Youth rates for the Eurail Global Pass are actually now offered for 1st class as of this year. Please disregard that part of my response above. However, by following the procedure I described above and identifying 3 of you as 'youths', you would still be quoted the best possible total (the Youth discount applying to the 3 'youth' passengers and the Saver discount applying to the 2 adult passengers). Rest assured, by indicating that 3 of you are 'youths', the total amount you're quoted would factor in those Youth discounts. Therefore, you would still want your screen to look like the screenshot above when you enter the criteria for your search. I'm very sorry for any confusion.

      Update:

As of 2017, the youth age for Eurail Passes has changed from 12-25 (under 26) to 12-27 (under 28).
