    Hi Bob,

If you were to purchase a rail pass, the pass would be a 3 country Eurail Select Pass to include France, Germany, and Austria. For the Eurail Select Pass, you would click here: https://www.raileurope.com/rail-ticke...

    Chateau-Thierry to Paris

The direct trains from Chateau-Thierry to Paris depart regularly throughout the day, and the ride takes just over 50 minutes. These are regional TER trains don't accept reservations, so a rail pass that includes France would be all you'd need to board.

    Paris to Salzburg

The most feasible connections from Paris to Salzburg take about 8.5 hours in duration and involve changing trains once in either Stuttgart en route. In addition to the rail pass, the trains from Paris to Stuttgart would require reservations. On the trains from Stuttgart to Salzburg, reservations would be highly recommended.

For travel with a rail pass, you would purchase reservations by entering a route on our homepage (www.raileurope.com) and indicating the type of pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. a 'Eurail Select Pass'). For a trip from Paris to Salzburg, you would do one search for trains from Paris to Stuttgart and another search for connecting trains from Stuttgart to Salzburg. Currently, however, there may be an error on our site preventing the passholder reservations for a train from Paris to Stuttgart from being booked there. If you don't see the passholder reservations display when you do your search for this segment, then you would have to call us to purchase them. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600.

The trains from Paris to Stuttgart are TGV Est (France-Germany High Speed) trains. The trains from Stuttgart to Salzburg are EuroCity (EC) trains.

    Salzburg to Vienna

To get from Salzburg to Vienna, you would take an InterCity (IC) train or a high-speed Railjet train. On these trains, reservations would only be recommended. You would purchase reservations by entering the route on our homepage (www.raileurope.com) and indicating the type of pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. a 'Eurail Select Pass').
