Leaving on short notice: need to buy a railpass in Geneva? Possible?!

I am in the midst of planning a VERY last minute trip to Europe. As in I leave on Wednesday morning. I would like to get a select railpass for Switzerland, Italy, and Austria.

I have bought similar rail passes before at Berlin and Amsterdam, but just not sure if it is possible to buy them in Switzerland. If not Geneva, maybe Zurich?

Also, I am flying through Amsterdam, but do not want to take the time to go to the train station from the airport if possible. However, I would be willing to do this if I knew there was 1) no other option and 2) I can get a select pass that does not include the BeNeLux, since I would be buying it in the Netherlands.

Any PROMPT! info on this would be GREATLY appreciated! :)

  • Hi Krista,

While rail passes are generally not widely available for purchase in Europe, certain passes may be able to be to purchased at locations called 'Eurail Aid Offices', which can only be found in some major stations in Europe, including both Geneva and Zurich.

It is generally recommended that rail passes be purchased in advance prior to departing for Europe, as you can also then purchase your reservations in the same order; since many trains will require reservations and can sell out quickly. Also, there is no way for us to know what specific passes will be offered at any of these locations.

I would recommend that you call us today within the next couple hours and arrange for overnight delivery. The last shipment leaves our office at 5:30 PM CT on any given weekday. You can reach us at 1-800-622-8600.
