Aix-en-Provence to Monaco & Monaco to Genoa. Can't seem to tell if train stops in Monaco.

We want to travel from Aix-en Provence to Monaco, stay overnight & then on to Genoa, by rail. We can't seem to locate where/if the train stops in Monaco. Can someone please advise us as to where that would be?

    Hi Tilden,

Yes, there is a rail station in Monaco. A connection from Aix en Provence to Monaco takes about 4 hours in duration and involves changing trains at least once in Nice along the way. From Aix en Provence to Nice, you would be on a TGV train. From Nice to Monaco, you would be on a regional TER train.

From Monaco to Genoa, there are direct Thello Day trains. However, most connections from Monaco to Genoa involve changing trains once in Ventimiglia along the way.

The direct trains from Monaco to Genoa only take about 2.5 hours, and the connections via Ventimiglia take just over 3 hours.

You would purchase tickets by searching a route under 'BOOK TRAIN TICKETS' on the homepage of our website, www.raileurope.com.

When searching connections from Aix en Provence to Nice, you would just want to type 'Aix en Provence TGV' in the field for the departure city.

The ride between Aix en Provence and Monaco (the French Riviera Railway) is very scenic. For substantial stretches, there will be views of the Mediterranean to the south and the rockier terrain of the Maritime Alps to the north. Monaco to Genoa also will be pretty scenic.
