I’m ANGRY

Rail Protection Plan - Stolen Tickets

We lost our paper tickets while in Europe. We went to a Rail Europe station to get them re-printed (we had all of the confirmation information) and they refused to re-print them. What kind of customer service is that? Additionally we were informed because we purchased them in the US, that their systems in Europe didn't link the to one in the US. We had purchased them online from RailEurope.com! Not sure what kind of business you are running, but not re-printing lost or stolen tickets is TERRIBLE customer service. And on top of it, giving ridiculous excuses is even worse.

  • Hi Lisa,

Rail Europe is the North American ticket supplier for the various national rail networks and train operators of Europe. We do not have any stations, as we are completely separate from the rail networks and actual train operators themselves.

I'm sorry to hear you are frustrated, however, it is true that you would need the actual physical documents to board. Lost or stolen tickets are like cash and could be used by other people. It is standard practice for rail travel, even for tickets purchased locally in Europe, that lost tickets would not be re-printed. At the time of purchase, you also have the option to purchase the Rail Protection Plan to cover the cost of lost or stolen tickets while in Europe, in which case, you would apply for reimbursement upon your return home.

Wow, this just soured me! This means that the traveler is stuck without a pass, required to spend large funds again, and then return home to fight with you folks about a refund! Ugh!!!
