  • Hi Melodee,

The national rail network of Spain states that passengers can carry up to 3 pieces of luggage, the sum of which may not exceed 290 cm, and the largest of the 3 items should not exceed 85 x 55 x 35 cm in height-width-depth. Also, the total weight of the 3 items should not exceed 25 kg. In Europe, the only rail network that imposes weight limitations on luggage is the national rail network of Spain.

You would purchase tickets for a train from Barcelona to Madrid by doing a search for the route under 'Find Train Tickets' on our homepage, www.raileurope.com. Trains from Barcelona to Madrid are high-speed AVE trains. Generally, these trains can be booked once within 90 days of an intended date of departure.

  • If we were to go first class would there be an additional allowance? If not would we be able to have out luggage brought from Barcelona to Madrid through a insured carrier?
    Thanks
