Luggage Concerns on High Speed Trains in Spain

I am traveling by train to make international flight connection. How is luggage handled on the train? Is it locked in a separate train car? Does it stay with the passenger in his train car? Is it different if one books premium vs comfort? Thank you.

    Hi Julie,

On trains, your luggage stays with you. The general rule is that you can take as much luggage as you can carry. Trains provide sufficient space to store luggage. There is space between seats or in the overhead racks. In many cases, there is also space at the ends of each train car.

In Europe, the only rail network that imposes weight limitations on luggage is the national rail network of Spain. While that is the case, there is no telling how strictly they'd enforce their policy. The national rail network of Spain states that passengers can carry up to 3 pieces of luggage, the sum of which may not exceed 290 cm, and the largest of the 3 items should not exceed 85 x 55 x 35 cm in height-width-depth. Also, the total weight of the 3 items should not exceed 25 kg.
