Change in reply by Jeff to Thank you for your question, Laurella. Generally, you would be able to take as many bags as you can carry when traveling on trains in Europe. The national rail network of Spain does list size limits for their trains (including the AVE trains); however, there is no telling how strictly they'll enforce the policy. The national rail network of Spain states that passengers can carry up to 3 pieces of luggage, the sum of which may not exceed 290 cm, and the largest of the 3 items should not exceed 85 x 55 x 35 cm in height-width-depth. Also, the total weight of the 3 items should not exceed 25 kg. There would be space for luggage between seats or in the overhead racks, as well as at the entrance of each train car in many cases. You would purchase tickets and check schedules by clicking on 'Find Fares & Schedules' on the homepage of our website (www.raileurope.com) and entering a route. Generally, trains in Spain can be booked within 60 to 90 days of an intended date of departure..
