My Seville-Granada trip is 56 days away. Why can't I book a train ticket?

I've been trying to book a one-way trip from Seville to Granada, but I keep getting the message that tickets are not available. My travel date is less than 60 days away, when will I be able to book online? Should I call instead? Thanks

    Hi Marla,

The national rail network of Spain has seemingly suspended the ticket sales of trains into Granada for the time being. We're very sorry for any inconvenience. We hope this changes soon, so I would still recommend checking our site periodically to see if the trains from Seville to Granada ('Media Distancia' trains) are made available to be booked. However, this also may be due to some construction that has not been announced yet. Therefore, if it comes down to it, there are also buses that run between Seville and Granada. I believe the ride on the bus only takes about 3 hours. The bus company is called 'ALSA'.

  • Thanks for the response, Jeff. That isn't something I would have thought of! I will give it a week or two and look into the bus.

I understand. It's something that's generally not a worry, as both cities do have rail stations with direct trains running between them. If it turns out that they'll not be running, at least there is the bus. Have a great trip, Marla, and let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

  • Jeff,

Is this still the case? It's 2/16 and we (family of 5) want to reserve one-way train tickets from Seville to Granada in April. I've been trying for a few weeks and it still says "unavailable to schedule online."

Please advise if I need to make bus or car rental reservations.

    Thank you!

    • Thanks Jeff. We are needing a train on April 9th and I've also been trying to reserve a bus - both with no luck.

I'm sorry, there has been some confusion surrounding this rail line. Our website is displaying the direct trains from Seville to Granada (for other dates in April), and our resources have been indicating that the direct service on this line had been restored. However, that is not actually the case, so I apologize for any incorrect information. Instead, this route would still involve taking that bus for the segment from Antequera to Granada. You can purchase a ticket to cover the entire route from Seville to Granada (including the bus), by calling us. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600. Our current hours are 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM CT Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CT on Saturdays.

If they happen to restore the direct trains before your travel date, the ticket we issue would still be valid.
