  • Hi Peggy,

The best way to get from Nice to Poretta is to go from Nice to Ventimiglia, Ventimiglia to Milan and Milan to Bologna. From Bologna you would need to look into taking a taxi or a bus to your destination. There are no trains that I can see that will travel through Poretta.

If there is a train service, this is a locally owned company which tickets would then have to be purchased locally in Italy.

    Thank you,
    Jen

Thank you for your question, Peggy.

There is actually a train station right in Porretta Terme, accessed by regional trains from Bologna. We are able to issue tickets for the trains from Bologna to Porretta Terme. A connection from Nice to Porretta Terme would take about 8.5 hours in duration and involves 3 train changes en route; once in Ventimiglia, once in Milan, and then once in Bologna.

You would purchase tickets and check schedules by clicking on 'Find Fares & Schedules' on our homepage. For this trip, you would just piece together the connection by doing a separate search for each segment. When doing your search for the final segment from Bologna to Porretta Terme, you would just type 'Porretta' for Porretta Terme. Therefore, you would do one search for trains from Nice to Ventimiglia (regional trains), another search for connecting trains from Ventimiglia to Milan (InterCity trains), another search for connecting trains from Milan to Bologna (Frecciarossa/Frecciabianca, Italo, or InterCity trains), and another search for connecting trains from Bologna to Porretta (regional trains).
