One day trips to France & Belgium from London

Hi - I'm looking into the 3 day global pass for 2 adults & 2 kids (ages 8 & 11). I understand there's a deal right now that allows me to get first class upgrade & also get the kids pass for free. After I purchase the global pass, what would the cost for reservations be for a one-day trip from London-Paris & London-Belgium on April 19 & 20 for all 4 passengers? Do the kids have reservation fees as well or just the 2 adults? How do I book the reservations? Also, in this case, is a point-to-point ticket recommended over the global pass option? Thank you!

    Hi Sreeja,

For the Eurail Global Pass, you would click here: https://www.raileurope.com/pass/eurail-global-pass-5880.

The current promotion on the Eurail Global Pass offers 1st class for 2nd prices. To receive the promotion, you would have to place your order before February 28th and your travel must be completed by May 15th.

It is true that the Eurail Global Pass would be free for children 8 and 11 years of age. By indicating their ages when you input the traveler information for your party, they would receive the pass for free.

Even though their Eurail Global Pass would be free for your children, they would still need to have reservations on Eurostar and Thalys trains for which there is a charge. From your question, I'm not exactly clear on what your specific plans are, but Eurostar and Thalys trains do require reservations as a supplement to a rail pass (even for the children). The Eurostar connects London with either Paris or Brussels. Thalys trains connect Paris and Brussels.

For travel with a rail pass, you would purchase reservations by searching a route on our homepage (www.raileurope.com), checking the box that says ‘I have a rail pass’, and then indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. a ‘Eurail Global Pass’).

Passholder reservations on these trains can sell out very quickly, so it is recommended that the reservations be purchased as soon as possible. Otherwise, if they're sold out, you would not be able to make the trip.

  • Thank you so much, Jeff. This is very helpful. Per your response, I checked your website for reservations & I'm able to secure London-Belgium on Eurostar for April 20 however, no results come up for London-Paris on Eurostar for April 19. Is it possible that they are sold out already?

It is possible that the Eurostar could already be sold out for dates in April, especially if it's passholder reservations you're searching. If you want to verify availability, you would have to call us. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600. Our current hours are 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM CT Monday to Friday. Otherwise, if you're flexible, you can see if another date or time is available.
