Trying to Make Reservations for Paris to Bern With Eurail Global Pass

Purchased a Eurail Global pass; trying to purchase reservations for the trip and keep coming across the "reservation required" screen but no reservations to purchase (the train that has "reservation recommended" has reservations for purchase but the required does not) -- why is this? The date I am trying to purchase for is July 2nd, which is 87 days (outside of the 90 day window); I bumped up the date and the screenshot is for June 18th. Can someone advise? Perhaps there is an error?

    Thank you for your question.

A connection from Paris to Bern would involve changing trains once in Geneva or Basel along the way. Trains from Paris to Geneva and Paris to Basel are high-speed 'TGV Lyria' trains.

A Eurail Global Pass would enable you to receive a 'Passholder 2' rate on the TGV Lyria trains from Paris to Geneva or Paris to Basel.

In spite of what it may say on our website, it is not necessary at all to have reservations on the connecting trains from Geneva to Bern or Basel to Bern. Therefore, the Eurail Global Pass is all you would need to board any train from Geneva or Basel to Bern.

You would purchase your reservations from Paris to Geneva or Paris to Basel at the Passholder 2 rate by clicking on 'Book your Rail Pass Reservations' on our homepage, entering the cities, and indicating that you'll be traveling with a 'Eurail Global Pass' when you're prompted to enter the type of pass you'll have. Since it is not necessary to have reservations on the connecting trains from Geneva or Basel to Bern, you would just do the search for the segment from Paris to Geneva or Paris to Basel.

To ensure that it is a 'Passholder 2' rate you're being quoted when you pull up the results of your search, you would click the 'View' button for the cost listed under your preferred class of service for your preferred departure. After you click the 'View' button, a box will expand out underneath. In this box, you would refer to the option(s) listed under where it says 'Ticket Flexibility' and click 'Read More'. When you click 'Read More', the name of the fare should display as something like 'TGV Lyria Passholder 2' or something similar. Generally, the Passholder fares for these trains would be the 'Semi Flexible' option under 'Ticket Flexibility'.

For planning purposes, you can just check schedules for the un-reserved segment from Geneva to Bern or Basel to Bern by clicking on 'Find Fares & Schedules' on our homepage and entering the cities, this time not indicating that you'll be traveling with any type of rail pass when you're prompted.

The TGV Lyria trains from Paris to Geneva or Basel can sell out quickly, so it would be recommended that you purchase these reservations as soon as possible.
