I'm taking the City Night Line from Zurich to Amsterdam. If this train passes through Germany, does that mean I have to get a pass that includes Germany?

Hi! I am taking the City Night Line from Zurich to Amsterdam. It looks like the train passes through Germany. Do I have to get a pass that includes Germany as one of my 3 or 4 access countries?

    Hi Vijay,

If you'll have a rail pass that includes at least one of the countries being traveled through, you would be eligible to receive a discounted rate called the 'Passholder 2' on a City Night Line train from Zurich to Amsterdam. Therefore, your pass would not have to include Germany, as long as it includes either the Benelux or Switzerland. Currently, the Passholder 2 rates on this train are not able to be booked on our website. Instead you would have to call us to purchase reservations at this rate. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600.

Currently, if you were to do a search from Zurich to Amsterdam on our website and indicate that you'll be traveling with a rail pass that covers the Benelux or Switzerland (and not Germany), our website would incorrectly quote to you the regular Passholder rate (different from the Passholder 2/for when the rail pass covers the entire route) or regular tickets. Therefore, you would want to be sure to call us so that we can issue you the correct fare.

Generally, the City Night Line trains can be booked within 90 to 120 days of an intended date of departure.
