What if I miss my overnight train?

For our train, we are taking a bus to the train station in Madrid and we have a pretty good window of time to make the overnight train from Madrid to Paris. But what if, for whatever reason, the bus was late and I missed the overnight train that I had reserved a seat on? Could I exchange it for the next day? Or would I just lose the money and have to pay another 250+ for the new ticket for the next day? If not then what can I do? Should I not buy the ticket until I want to leave? though I heard that it's better to book ahead of time for overnight trips to ensure you have a seat?

    Hi Jenny,

You can view a particular fare's rules and guidelines by clicking on 'Select' listed with the fare when you pull up the results of your search on our website. Tickets for the night train from Madrid to Paris are non-exchangeable. Therefore, you would not be able to exchange the ticket for another train, should you miss the original train you book.

Accommodations for night trains can sell out very quickly, especially on the night trains from Madrid or Barcelona to Paris, so we would strongly recommend that the tickets be purchased in advance, prior to departing for Europe. If you wait until you're in Europe, it is likely the train would be sold out.
