Preparing to study in Switzerland and visit European countries

I am from Panama and will study in Switzerland for 12 months starting on August 2016. Which kind of Eurail Pass is the best option if I plan to visit several European countries but do not have fixed dates yet? Can I purchase my Eurail Pass from Switzerland or should I do it from my country?

    Hi Jorge,

The kind of pass you purchase depends on your specific plans and various other factors. Please note, however, there is no rail pass with a validity longer than 2 months, aside from the 3 month consecutive version of the Eurail Global Pass (the Eurail Global Pass is the pass that covers the ticket costs for rail travel all throughout 28 different European countries). Another option might be to purchase multiple passes. Most rail passes have a validity period of 1 or 2 months. You would also just want to keep in mind that rail passes have to be validated for first use within 11 months from the date they are purchased.

Rail passes are generally not available for purchase once in Europe. Therefore, it would be recommended that a rail pass be purchased before leaving North America.

If you need assistance determining the best option for an itinerary, you would call us. If calling from Panama, we can be reached at 1-847-916-1095. Our current hours are 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM CT Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CT on Saturdays.
