I’m frustrated

Problems booking Italian trains with a railpass.

I have the 4 day Eurail pass for Switzerland and Italy. I have spent a lot of time trying to book a train (one of the supposed eligible ones) in Italy where I can use my pass and I keep getting that my pass will cannot be used despite the being with Trenitalia. Can you explain why? This is incredibly frustrating.

    Hi Belinda,

    Rest assured, your rail pass would be valid (except on the Italo trains, which are privately operated) and you can disregard any error message stating otherwise.

    Passholder reservations for trains in Italy are currently not able to be booked on our website. If you need to purchase reservations for a train in Italy you would instead have to call us. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600. Our current hours are 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM CT Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CT on Saturdays. We are very sorry for your frustration and apologize for the inconvenience.
