Purchasing a 30-day Rail Pass

We have a group traveling to Europe (September, 2014) and want to purchase the 30-day Eurorail Global Pass. I understand that we will need to make reservations in advance for several of the trains between Germany, France, and Italy - but will there be additional costs for those trains, if we purchase the First-Class priced Global Pass? Will it work on the TGV & ICE trains without additional fees? What about overnight trains? Thank you for any assistance, we do have plenty of time to plan so we want to research every possibility.

  • Hi Tammy,

All reservations that are booked in addition to the pass are at an additional cost. Please be advised that the TGV trains in France do not always have the Eurail passholder fares available. We highly recommend that you purchase your pass and reservations at the same time to ensure availabilty. Please note that reservations cannot be made until 90 days prior to the train departure date.
For reservation costs, these will vary depending on the route and availability. Overnight trains will cost more depending on the type of compartment and the route you are traveling. Overnight trains can be booked 90-120 days in advance depending on the train company.
If you would like more information, please contact us at 800-438-7245 and one of our Travel Consultants will be more than happy to assist you with fares.
I hope this information does help you in planning your trip for next year.

    Thank you.
