Rail pass reservation booking window for trains from Stockholm to Copenhagen?

Hi,
I'm planning a trip for June with several train routes and I've been using the booking engine to look at prices.

Here's an example of what I'm seeing:

Stockholm to Copenhagen with a Eurail select pass:

May 31st - $11 - $30
June 1st - $175

Stockholm to Copenhagen with no pass:

May 31st - $54 - $102
June 1st - $175

Based on these results, the Euroselect pass doesn't provide any discount on June 1st. I'm guessing that the problem is that I'm looking to far in advance and the booking engine is not properly factoring in the pass.

I'd like to know when I can start booking these trains at the proper rate. Is it April 1st? 90 days before the trip?

Thanks,
Alex

    Hi Alex,

I'm very sorry for the delay getting back to you. You're correct in attributing it to being too far in advance. Generally, trains from Stockholm to Copenhagen (SJ High Speed trains) can only be booked within 90 days of an intended date of departure. Currently, however, the passholder rates (reservations) for these trains are only able to be booked for dates up until May 31st. Since we're already within the usual 90 day booking window, I would recommend checking the route on a daily basis until the pricing for the passholder rates displays. Once it displays, you will be able to proceed to purchase reservations for the route. I would suspect the passholder reservations will be made available to book at any point within the next 2 or 3 weeks.

  • Hi Jeff,

I'm still having not seeing a change in the rates. I'm also having trouble with other trains where the booking engine does not produce results.

Do you have more of an 'old fashioned' route that I could try? I have about 20 trains that I'm trying to book and my planning time is starting to run out. I'd prefer to do all the booking at once to reduce the fees.

    Hi Alex,

The local operator for the Stockholm to Copenhagen trains has still not enabled their passholder rates (reservations) to be booked for dates beyond May 31st. I'm not sure what you mean by "old fashioned" routes but, due to something called the "annual summer schedule change", it may be the case that other trains aren't ready to be booked either. Can you give me an example of another route you're trying to search?

  • Hi Jeff,
By old fashioned route I mean that I'd like to email or telephone raileurope with a list of my travel dates and the rail passes that I want to purchase. Then I would like to receive a quote with accurate pricing for each section of the trip, and then pay for all my trains at once.

I'm having trouble doing that through the booking engine. My first post on here was from Feb 15th and I haven't been able to make any progress booking my trip.

Here's another example of booking engine problems from Copenhagen to Hamburg:

I know I could book each train at a time, but I imagine that there's a transaction fee and I'd only like to pay it once.

    Thanks

    Hi Alex,

Ah, I see; I'm sorry for misunderstanding. We are not able to provide prices or schedules through email (or on this forum), but you can certainly call us. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600.

The direct trains from Copenhagen to Hamburg have not been operating due to construction on the rail lines between Denmark and Germany, but I'm seeing that they will be operating again come June.

The trains from Copenhagen to Hamburg are now able to be reserved for dates in June, but it is currently not possible to purchase these reservations on our website. Instead, you would purchase reservations for a train from Copenhagen to Hamburg by calling us. The trains from Copenhagen to Hamburg are InterCity Express (ICE) trains on which reservations would be highly recommended in addition to your pass.
